On Thursday 7 August, alumna Lizzy Goldfinch (2004) returned to St Aidan’s to lead a thoughtful and engaging session titled Bridging the Financial Confidence Gap Across Generations. As a Partner at Mutual Trust and a dynamic speaker, Lizzy brought clarity, warmth, and insight to a topic that affects us all - money.

This wasn’t about spreadsheets or superannuation. It was about stories. Beliefs. The quiet messages we inherit about money and the loud ones we pass on. Lizzy explored why financial literacy matters deeply for women, and how confidence in this space can ripple outward - changing lives, families, and futures.

The room was filled with mothers, daughters, and alumni. They listened. They shared. They reflected. Lizzy invited them to challenge old narratives and embrace new ones. She reminded us that financial empowerment isn’t just practical - it’s powerful.

The following day, Lizzy hosted a 90-minute workshop for the entire Year 10 cohort - 130 students - as part of their SOAR class. With music, movement, and hands-on activities, she brought energy and relevance to financial wellbeing. Students learned how to make smart choices early, resist short-term temptations, and build strong foundations for their future.

Lizzy’s visit was more than a lesson - it was a spark. A reminder that financial literacy isn’t just about numbers. It’s about mindset. It’s about confidence. It’s about creating opportunities and impact that last.
