Dr Zoe Rathus

Zoe has spent her career standing up for women and families, always guided by her belief in fairness and equality.  A proud member of the Class of 1975, she studied Law at the University of Queensland and began her career representing women facing domestic violence — a cause that has remained close to her heart ever since.

In 1984, Zoe co-founded the Women’s Legal Service, where she served as Coordinator for fifteen years, leading critical reform in family and gender law. Today, as an Associate Professor at Griffith University Law School and a member of the Family Law Council, she continues to shape policy and mentor the next generation of advocates with courage, intellect, and compassion.

In 2011, Zoe was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of her outstanding contributions to law, education, and the advancement of women’s rights. Her legacy is a testament to what can be achieved through conviction, leadership, and heart.  Beyond her professional achievements, she continues to mentor St Aidan’s students, inspiring the next generation of changemakers.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Zoe, whose remarkable journey exemplifies the spirit and strength of St Aidan’s.

If you know an alumna making a meaningful difference in her field or community, we invite you to nominate her for the 2026 Alumni Awards or share her story on Aidan’s Connect. Together, we celebrate the extraordinary women of St Aidan’s — past, present, and future.

Have your say
